Get at least 3 prices for bids…. preferably not bids coming from Service Magic or additional “for profit” lead offering sites… they charge roofs contractors $50 to $150 or more per lead and can start to add to a roofs contractor’s overhead pretty quickly….. not to mention they send out 3-4 contractors that any person can find on their…… so merely pick 3 based on your research and criteria

Choose architectural shingles instead of 3-tab shingles. It shouldn’t be more expensive, and the look is significantly nicer. Don’t get raked within the coals for the upgrade, even though….. When I roofed people’s homes, I’d sometimes offer free upgrades if the homeowners couldn’t afford the difference, even though architectural shingles were easier to install and seemed much better from a neighbour’s perspective (for future referral business). The cost of shingles has increased tremendously over the last few years, so free-of-charge upgrades are not realistic nowadays but do a little research to get an idea of the value differences. WARNING: Menards Generic Shingles are not of the identical quality of GAF, Tamko & or Certainteed…. so tend to base your research on their deals in the weekly ads!! (it’s not an apple for cheerios comparison, but if you’re ALL RIGHT with lesser quality shingles, then communicate this actuality with your chosen roofing contractor)

Stay away from companies blowing money on old-school marketing like Yellow Web site ads, TV and Radio station ads, Billboards, etc …… these kinds of marketing areas are costly. They rarely make results compared to how many people cost. They are also simply not extended the ways people find service workers in today’s marketplace….. so any business wasting money on them may well be desperate for work or ridiculous spending more than they get back. Any roofing specialist using these outdated methods needs to figure out ways to cover all their losses… or they will be out of business soon. (If you are a Local Contractor reading this, they have time to focus on the future of advertising and marketing, not the past)

Ensure that you’re getting a 10-year assurance. Any company that knows what exactly they’re doing and holds behind their work can give a 10-year warranty for particular work as a standard procedure. If that costs extra to get a ten-year warranty, then compare prices for bids when all is said and also done, and make sure you choose consequently (warranty and product enhancements are a considerable profit manufacturer for slick sales assistants)

May ever get pressured directly into signing a contract, especially if advised that the price is only suitable for the spot.

This may be my view, but the last time My partner and I checked, roofing was a witty, nasty, tar-infested business, and using brand new trucks easily doesn’t make much good sense (except for possibly trucking materials and equipment). This isn’t a hard and fast tip, but the closer you get to normal-looking used work lorries and equipment, the more detailed you get to the companies and those doing the work. Of course, salespeople own an impression to make, so an extraordinary vehicle is expected; however, with today’s gas prices, almost any salesman driving a brand new quad cab dually for accomplishing estimates or sales presentations is not being very conscious of careless spending….. and that extra money is just around the corner from somewhere…… probably people.

Be wary of super minimal bids. If a bid is thousands of dollars less than others, ensure that the Roofing Contractor is undoubtedly Licensed and Insured to get proof of both. Now…. to dance with the idea of acting as your contractor on your rooftop, then using a Licensed Specialist may not be mandatory, but The liability is still a must; in case you can find future leaks ever this doesn’t get handled, and a promise needs to be made, and if not any Liability Policy is around to have a claim on, then you’ll possibly be flat out of luck: )
