Pete and Repeat were alone in their boat as it floated silently for days, hours, minutes – or possibly weeks – without incident.

Pete and Repeat’s works feature geometric constructions ranging from modernist grids to conceptual seriality, yet often contain humorous touches, which question rigor and authority in contemporary art.

Knock-Knock Joke

The knock-knock joke is a timeless comedy staple. Easy to learn and retell, it can be used in any setting to provide quick laughs at home or humorous one-liners on the street – it has long been part of American humor!

No one knows precisely when and why this type of joke started, but it has since become widely popular throughout many cultures worldwide. Some scholars speculate it began during medieval castle guards’ use of call-and-answer routines to tease people, while others point to Shakespeare’s Macbeth for inspiration as having one similar. No matter its roots, however, it has since become one of the most beloved forms of humor throughout history.

There are various versions of a knock-knock joke, but all contain similar elements. A jokester begins by pretending they are calling someone at their door before inviting the listener inside, who then introduces themselves before responding with “Who’s there?” before the jokester adds something that plays off their last name as part of their punchline.

Knock-knock jokes usually rely on the concept that listeners repeat their first name and “who’s there” back to the jokester, making them appear silly. Therefore, it’s essential to get to know both your listener and their sense of humor before telling a knock-knock joke. Additionally, the jokester should practice their punchline to remember the correct order of lines when speaking it aloud.

Some people enjoy adding humor to everyday lives by telling knock-knock jokes, making the day more enjoyable and entertaining for all involved. Knock-knock jokes can also help pass the time while waiting, such as at restaurants or on road trips.

While some may dislike knock-knock jokes, most find them amusing and may even help relieve stress or lower blood pressure. Knock-knock jokes can also serve as an effective tool for building relationships and showing someone you care about them.

Before knock-knock jokes were popularized, Do You Know jokes were used as an entertaining form of banter. A Do You Know joke would involve asking an unsuspecting listener such as, “Do you know Arthur?” which would prompt them to reply with, “Arthur who?” for maximum laughter from both listener and jokester alike. In time, however, these unconventional types of humor gave way to more mainstream knock-knock ones, which remain an integral part of American culture, especially at parties and social gatherings where these humorous banters help break up awkward silences between participants.

It was a wonderful day; the grayish-green waters beckoned you into diving deeper. The repeat was in his Jane’s Addiction shirt, his bulging arms seeming even more significant compared to Pete, who drove their boat while Repeat observed with wary eyes.

Before they hit anything, everything started going south quickly. “What is that?” Pete demanded as he attempted to steer the boat back towards an easier part of the lake. When they eventually discovered something hidden under their hull – an unidentified rock! – everything changed drastically. Whoever put that rock there could only answer with, “Who put it there?” as their response. “A rock!” shouted Pete again and again before screaming out, “A rock! A rock!” before shouting: “WHO PLACED IT THERE?” “Who put it there?” he demanded in frustration before finally discovering something hidden under there had a hidden location. Who put that rock there?” he demanded when something hit them, causing chaos when all hell broke loose and causing everything to go haywire: who put that rock there?” then added: “Who put it there?” When their vessel hit something mysterious. Pete demanded, “WHO put that rock there?” before discovering one found its hiding place beneath their hull! Who put that rock there?”. Who put there?” asked Peter in disbearisher: who had put that rock there?” Insistor, did anyone place this rock?” Pete was annoyed that they had always been hiding beneath there all along. Who put it there?” And WHO had put it there?!? Who had put it there?” Who put it there!? as who put this hidden under there?” Who put it there?” Who put it there?” Why had someone? Who put it there?” Who put it there?” Who put it there?” Who put it there?” Who put it there?” Who put it there?” asked another. “Who put it there?”? Who placed there?” Who?! Who! Who put there?” then? “Who put there?” when asked!? Who put?? Who put here?” Pete inquired when his vessel was. – when finally caught him? he shouted. Who?! (Rock!) There? Who put it there?” “Who put him there?” When all those mysterious rocks anyway?” And Who put it there?! Why?” When had put there “Where?!”. “Who had put there anyway?” then?” “Well?!” shouted. Who put it there!?!”… who??” When had put there?” Who gave us here?”! It there?” ” Who put there… where?” asked. who put there?!”. Finally…… Who?” Wa??” asking himself at??” “Well?” asked.. Now?” In that??” (Who?”…) asked himself then?” If they?”. “W!”??!??!”) before??) so soon?”????!??!” Who?!?!)?!” Finally??!”? who?”…?”…where??!?”?) (or…?) Who put……………….?”!?…”??”. This….WH”?? “?”! If she or him?”!?) before?) his?!??) (or was I heard later…..?” Who gave this?” When there?” Who gave such an attempt….?). Repeat replied that it was him; suddenly, as tall as the oars with a face flushed and hair standing up, breathing heavily through short gasps while gripping oar handles tightly, cracking his voice, telling Pete to stop yelling and pull him in. Pete was suddenly struggling free from Repeat’s hold while Pete asked, “What you are doing?” his voice was also cracking as he attempted to free himself.

However, it was too late: all oars had gone! The boat tilted with waves crashing over its side – and now was sinking!

At the time of Pete’s boat’s sinking, all his friends and family were present. When asked what the best man’s name was, Pete responded, “Repeat.” Unfortunately, their questioning was misheard as they repeated it incorrectly and thought he said his best friend’s name was also Pete – creating a popular and repeated joke that still endures today.

Longtime fans of Knock-Knock Jokes were delighted to discover this one being turned into a short film. Originally written as a screenplay, the story has been expanded to add character development. And I strongly urge everyone who appreciates these gags to give this short movie a look! It won’t disappoint!

Reeves and de Armas both perform admirably, given they don’t have much dialogue to work with. Reeves excels at portraying both roles, playing both lovable heroes as well as more lethal and sexualized scenes; de Armas particularly shines during her sexualized scenes as an act of torture victimization.

Knock-Knock Joke starts slowly but quickly gathers steam as you stay engaged to its conclusion. Knock-knock jokes have long been enjoyed and shared among friends and families – this one will not disappoint!
