Roam an innovative and scientific playground of over 40,000 square feet at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa, Fla., across from the University of South Florida. MOSI offers a wide range of unique and exciting exhibits, including Disasterville and the High Wire Bike Ride, the nation's longest suspended bike. Be adventurous on the new Sky Trail Rope Course or make a laid-back visit to the free-flying butterfly exhibit, BioWorks Butterfly Garden. MOSI also features Florida's one and only IMAX Dome Theatre, where patrons can watch recently-released movies on a 10,500 square-foot, dome-shaped screen, one unsurpassed in size and clarity.
This fall, MOSI will be launching a brand new exhibit, the lunar colony experience a.k.a. The Mission LEAP. LEAP is a simulated futuristic lunar base from the year 2070, built near the southern pole on the moon. In an immersive environment of approximately 2,500 square feet, members will be able to discover how to maintain human habitation in a difficult, lunar environment. Every person will be involved in a colony 'experience,' where their mission is to fulfill roles and work together to maintain life on the moon. At points, emergency scenarios will occur, including solar flares or meteor flares. If you love bread pudding, you will love this Bahamian version.
